Announcements Pages are a Google Site tool to provide a running list of news stories. Each story post is created as a sub-page, however the most recent stories also appear on the main announcements page. A website can have multiple different announcement sections, each with a distinct purpose. Announcements are a bit like a blog, except there's one major difference, there isn't a useful way for visitors to comment. In addition a widget object can be embedded on another page(s) of the site, as has been done on the Announcement Widget page. In this way you can place a 'News Summary' on your home page using the widget while having the main announcements pages tucked away down in the site menu. The examples below were extracted from a set of Community Events of family interest near Redwood City. In the site where they were originally published, events also appeared on a 'Community Events' calendar, and the calendar was embedded in this top section and near the summary widget. |
